So its august 30th today, this morning i decided that i would drive from Grand Bend to Long Point, i had nothing else to do, and the beach sucked today at the bend, so around 1 o'clock i set off towards lake erie.
So i was off.
Let me just say that i definitely misjudged the distance from the bend to LP, it took in total about two and a half hours door to door.
Along the way i noticed these yellow big leafy plants all over, and realized it was tobacco, i had no idea that was grown so much in ontario!
On the way i noticed on my map Concessions 1 through eight, coming down towards the lake. I remembered something about concession six being good for tide pools, but i wanted to get into Long Point first. So i drove and drove into town, and the first stop was into Harry's shop to check it out, definitely a nice selection of boards there.
Next it was off to get food, so we ate at this place with a sandy area and picnic tables, cant remember the name of it, but it was meh, im spoiled by food from Grand Bend being amazing haha.
So first we drove down erie boulevard or whatever to find the public beach area, so we found it (we being my dad and i) and walked down. First impressions were that LP kinda resembled a Louisiana esq vibe. Houses looked a little worse for wear, and that marsh thing that the turtles live in was pretty cool.
So we went down to the beach, i had this impression that there would be the lake, then a small division before a HUGE tide pool, but all i found were a few smaller pools with kids in them.
The lake is surprisingly warmer than huron, it must be the shallowness.
Anyways, LP seems nice enough, if only the pools happened more frequently in GB, than we would have a perfect situation.
After today i decided, although it sounds super fun, that i wont be attending the comp, especially because i am moving out to Western on Labour day.
As we drove home, i mentioned to my dad about how i wanted to check out sixth, so as we counted down the concessions, eighth, seventh, sixth, etc. We were trying to find a place to park near sixth, but we couldn't so we drove back to in between eighth and seventh where we found this road.
So we drove down the road, got out of the car but the beach apparently is non existent around seventh/eighth concession, so it would have been cool to get to sixth, maybe next time. I hear its the shit.
Regardless of my failure to find good skim, it was still cool to see that part of ontario!
